Our Fragrances

Wunder-Baum air fresheners are made from a carefully selected palette of fragrance ingredients approved by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), a Switzerland-based official representative body of the fragrance industry worldwide. Its main purpose is to ensure the safety of fragrance materials through a dedicated science program that protects both the consumer and the environment.

Within IFRA, the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) analyses and evaluates scientific data that is used by IFRA to develop standards on fragrance material usage. This group consists of dermatologists, pathologists, environmental scientists and toxicologists.

Little Trees Europe strives to create and sell a safe product for both consumers and the environment. We partner with leading fragrance companies to develop the perfect fragrances for our products. All fragrances meet or exceed the IFRA and RIFM guidelines as well as our stringent internal safety standards.

Trademarks

Please don’t misuse our trademarks. Not on clothes, not in your ads and certainly not in your burgeoning air freshener business.

The Wunder-Baum air freshener was invented in Watertown, New York, USA in 1952 by Julius Sämann, who had spent five cold years extracting pine needle oils in the Canadian wilderness. He came up with the shape, the name and the fragrance. After more than 60 years, we are very proud of the worldwide reputation we have gained for quality and value, and want to make sure you get exactly what you expect when you buy a product with our brand on it. It should come as no surprise, then, that we are so vigilant about protecting our trademarks.

There’s another reason we don’t tolerate intellectual property theft. We have over twenty registered trademarks and in order to keep them, the law requires that we take action when someone is using them without permission.

If you really want to use one of our trademarks, why not ask us first? We have often said yes. Just ask the people behind many of the movies, TV shows and advertising campaigns that have featured our brands.

The iconic Tree shaped air freshener is known as Wunder-Baum in Europe, but the story starts in the USA and it is from there that the air freshener took over the world.

Our History

Over 60 years ago, a milk truck driver in northern New York complained to Julius Sämann about the smell of spilled milk. Sämann had lived and worked in the Canadian pine forests researching the extraction of aromatic oils from pine needles. He went to work and, using exceptional fragrances on specialty material, soon invented the first automotive air freshener. Julius Sämann gave his product the shape of a pine tree, and the first Wunder-Baum air freshener was born.

The Wunder-Baum air freshener is now known all over the world, and has appeared in numerous movies and television shows - over 1,500 at the last count.
With its great range of premium fragrances and designs on the unique, instantly recognisable Tree shape, Julius Sämann’s pioneering product has become a truly global symbol of freshness and superior quality.

Today

Whilst the Tree continues to be enjoyed in ever-increasing numbers across Europe, the Wunder-Baum brand now also offers a number of different air care products to meet the various demands of the modern consumer for premium quality fragrance.

In 2013 the Clip was launched – a colourful, contemporary and innovative air freshener which can be used almost anywhere. The Bottle range of superior fragrances was introduced in 2015. Then, in 2018, Fiber Can was added to the range. Made from 50% recycled Tree fiber, each Can is designed to deliver long-lasting powerful fragrance.
